I guess because of my knee pain, I think I can have a grumpy attitude! Well, I try not to let others see it ... but I sure feel it. I do not want to pray, I do not want to go to prayer tonight, I do not want to blog today, I am not sure what I want!!!

My sister Joan in Washington has settled into her new little home which is just off from her son's home/garage. Selling her home of 40 plus years was hard on her, but she seems happy so that is a blessing. The sale of her home went smoothly - thank you Jesus!

I was able to put the tent trailer up and take it down by myself - I even backed it up and around several times to remember how to do it! I was blessed to be able to accomplish that goal. I thank Jesus for helping me remember and at my age having the health and strength to do these things.

He uses "A.C.T.S" as a pattern for prayer. T = thanksgiving. Wow it is no coincidence that the very verse I wrote above is mentioned first thing ... 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "give thanks in all circumstances ..." He uses the story of the ten lepers ... one came back. He said there is a big difference between being grateful and being thankful. Jesus was disappointed when he saw the ten feel grateful, but did not take the time to express it. Then to satisfaction when one came back and was thankful. Like taking a child to a fair - they are grateful you see that they enjoyed. But if that child hugged and thanked you - well you would be ready to take them back for a second round. God must feel those kinds of emotions when we take the time to be thankful not just grateful.

When I lump all my sins together and confess them as a mass group, it is not too painful or embarrassing.  But to take each sin and deal with it on its own is a whole new ball game. You know that eye roll I tend to do at times ... I need to be specific in my prayers of confession. Our God is so forgiving - but we have to tell Him our sin first.  Psalm 103:12 "as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."

Paul was so pleased with the fact that these people continued in their faith. He also points out that he is anxious to return to restore areas of their faith where it might be lacking. To me that means we must continue to learn because we all lack in some area of faith!

We could pick one and meditate on it and tell Him how thankful we are for Him in that area. We could sing Him a song (hopefully in my case no one is near enough to hear :). I do stand in awe of Him.

I turned down Terry when she asked me to be the leader of the VBS food area. At first I felt so guilty. Then in prayer, I found comfort as it is not my gifted area and if I took it on, then the person meant to do that position would not be found. I am really needing to learn to not overextend myself. I thank the Lord for His guidance in times like this.

He talks about needing a prayer pattern - a structure to your prayer life. As an example he uses the A.C.T.S method = Adoration; Confession; Thanksgiving; Supplication. He says you need a balance in your prayers. It can not always be Give me; Help ... we also need to give thanks and worship. If we do not keep a balance in prayer we might feel guilty and just stop praying.

I need to pray about what I heard Vicki say vs what she says she said and should I just leave it alone? I know that I asked her outright if she was sure she heard Donna say the Pastor was against Bunco because it was gambling. She said YES. I then said Donna would not schedule a game if pastor was against it. Gerre's never came up in the meeting. I am so confused - do not want to feel like I am starting a problem, but I needed to defend Donna. Maybe Vicki was so upset she does not know how she worded it ... Lord I leave this in your hand and I shall listen for You to tell me what to do. I pray that all confusion disappears and there is unity in our church family.

He says it causes him to stay focused and also to be specific - not use general prayers because they don't read well on paper. Also, he can read back and see where prayers have been answered. This of course is not for everyone - but it works for me and I am glad to see my practice in writing in a book by a great man of God! We can read about prayer, write about prayer but only when we actually pray - then and only then will we begin to live our lives moment by moment in God's presence ... He is always there, but we only live in it when we are joined with Him in prayer.

This portion of the book is about meaning what we pray ... do not try to sound holy or just repeat something that is not relevant! His point is eye opening. He said if a person is sitting down to a meal that is a nutritional nightmare, the grease is bubbling, the salt is glistening, the sugared drink stand ready to slosh the stuff down and that person says "Dear Lord, bless this food to our bodies and grant us strength and nourishment from it so that we may do your will." God might want you to push away from that table. He likes dogs too so He would not want you to even give it to them. God want us to honor Him with what we put in our bodies not to ask him to bless junk food and miraculously transform it so that it has nutritional value. We should ask a blessing - but would definitely need to reword that one!

I need to be aware that the Lord is with me every moment of every day. He tells me that over and over again! I need to be aware so that I do not feel alone, but also for my attitude and for the actions I carry out that they might honor Him.

I need a burst of energy, for some reason I seemed to have lost my pep about getting the yard work done when I have to work around so many things that I schedule. Sitting here thinking if I didn't have staff meeting ... hmmm I could really get things done. But it is in 3 hours so I dare start. Oh well, maybe it will not be so hot this afternoon and I can get out there.

Summer is here!!! I am hoping to get my back yard in shape over the next two weeks ... so many things going on. Today visit with Donna Rose at her chemo infusion then Prime Timers luncheon. Tuesday is Staff meeting which seems to last almost three hours. Wednesday is free for me to work in yard all day! Thursday lunch with my buds, Donna and Jeanne. Friday trip to Elkton with Doug and Shirley to pick up Margo and head to just below Reedsport to look at the family camping spots we have reserved for the reunion in August at William Tugman State park. Praying to get back in time for Bunco and Pizza party at 6pm. Ending the week with Paint and Pray on Saturday! I am not planning anything next week except yard work!!!

The First WINGS prayer breakfast yesterday seemed to go very well. There were 14 women there and I got to meet Catherine who is a real blessing to me.

Philippians 2
In verse 3 we are to think of others as better than ourselves ... each person around us is better at something than we are. I will think better of others if I listen to their stories and explore who they are. If I know the secret hurts and pains and suffering of someone I don't care to be around, with God's help those feelings should evaporate. I am to look into people so I can feel compassion for them. These are notes from Jon Courson's commentary and something I need to work on. There are two women I do not care to be around and I should work on those feelings.

Just as with our personal health - we should watch what we eat, exercise and get proper sleep to be healthy ... our spiritual health needs attention!
We need to pray; we need to listen to the promptings from God; we need to attend church; we need to maintain healthy relationships with spiritually minded people; we need to reach out to others for God. If we are too busy with life to feed our spiritual health we should not be surprised when things go wrong. If we want God's presence we must feed our spiritual health with good habits.

A favorite chapter - the tools God has given us "THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD".
We need to put these on daily so we can stand against the wiles of the enemy. Our struggle is not with those of flesh and blood that we see every day around us - our fight, our struggle is with the unseen  rulers, the enemies, the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (the second heaven).

As I have been reading about God's power, I don't want to simply agree with the fact that He WAS powerful and all I read IS history not myth. I want to OWN it deep in my heart so that I can be bold in my statements that God's power is real today, as it was yesterday and as it will be forever. That right here in my city, my circumstances, in the lives of those around me - God is able to make any change He desires!
FACT: He was able to save 3 men from a firey furnace.
FACT: He saved David from the lions' mouth.
FACT: He gave 90 year old Sarah a child.
HE IS ABLE!  If I would have a tattoo that is what I would have on my hand, so I could be reminded every moment. Instead I pray that God will brand that truth on my heart. As Bill Hybels says in his book,  "A "prayer warrior"  is a person that is convinced that God has the power to do anything, to change anyone and to intervene in any circumstance. A person that truly believes this refuses to doubt God."

Angela Maddox, that I barely know ... in fact, not sure we have really spoken, but are facebook friends, saw my desire for chicken and dumplings and is bringing me Turkey and Dumplings today!
I do also feel blessed that JaKay also had some for me, but we could not connect. People bringing me meals is such a blessing. I can and do cook, but it is such a treat when I don't have to go to all that trouble just for me.

Today I read about the story in Acts 12:7-16 where Peter was not just imprisoned, but chained between 2 guards and because of prayer he was freed ... the story is amazing - but it is not just a story. As with all in the Bible, we do not get to pick and chose what we believe. This is not a parable told by Jesus ... it is fact ... if we believe, then we must believe and when we believe deep in our hearts - how can we not be amazed at the Power of God? He does this kind of thing today!!! I just need to look back at the answers to my prayers and there is proof!!! Father, I pray that You increase my faith, my unbelief! In the name of Jesus. Amen.

MY CALL TO ACTION TODAY/MY TIME OF SILENCE NOTES:
I spent quiet time earlier this morning and came up with  the following as a suggestion from Pastor Sheridan and from the prompting of the Spirit ... I sent it to Pastor and will see what his comments are before proceeding.

“Shield of Faith Prayer Group”

This is our new Sunday morning prayer group. We

use the Shield of Faith as the weapon, God gave us,

so Satan cannot derail our church from being filled

with mature Christians, making disciples and being

effective in building His kingdom. The shield is the

first line of defense, it guards, it deflects, it can

incapacitate the enemy and there is strength in

numbers of shields! We need you!

We will meet Sunday mornings at 8:30am in Hall 1

Room 2 to pray for Pastor Sheridan, for the service,

for the worship team, for all our teachers and leaders.

We may stay in the room, we may walk the grounds,

we may go from class room to class room or we may

do some pew praying as the Spirit leads us. Sometimes

we forget just how powerful prayer is. We aren’t fighting

against something imaginary. The power of prayer is so

great it has the power to defeat the enemy and his power

over us. He wants to destroy us, but God wants to bring

us closer to Him, to give us an abundant life, to answer

our prayers. Prayer is our tool to win those battles.
